A Night At The Opera is the fourth studio album by Queen. It was released on 21 November 1975 by EMI Records in the United Kingdom and by Elektra Records in the United States.

Singles[]

The number of singles that were released from this album was 3 singles (Not counting The Prophet's Song, which was released as a single in Canada instead). "Bohemian Rhapsody" was the lead single, released on 31 October 1975 with Taylor's "I'm In Love With My Car" as the B-side. Then on 10 December 1975, the band released another single, called "Death On Two Legs", in which they released it with fast rocker "Sweet Lady" as the B-side to the song. Finally, 6 months after it was released, the band was waiting for "You're My Best Friend" to be released as a single, and on 18 June 1976, it was finally backed with the outer spacer, "'39". The band was supposed to release "Love Of My Life" as a single sometime in July, but never did and released the live version from "Live Killers" in 1979 instead.

Trivia[]

  • At the time of its release, it was the most expensive album that had ever produced.
  • Mainly owing to the success of Bohemian Rhapsody, the album remained at #1 on the charts in the UK for nine consecutive weeks.
  • The album takes its name from the Marx Brothers film of the same name, which the band watched one night at one of the studios when recording. This aspect would be reused on the next album, A Day at the Races.
